I am a lecturer with a PhD in cognitive psychology, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and a qualified improv teacher.
Why
Underlying these qualifications is a deep passion for teaching, for facilitating learning, and mentoring core human skills - not only for academic development but also for personal life fulfilment.
How
I create psychologically-safe learning environments where people can experiment, make mistakes, reflect, and grow - academically, personally, and professionally. My pedagogy draws on experiential learning (Kolb), social learning (Vygotsky), reflective practice (Schön), strengths-based positive psychology, growth mindset (Dweck), ludic pedagogy, and the principles of improvisation from renowned educator and theatre director Keith Johnstone.
What
Together, these form the foundation for the learning programmes I am developing, which combine psychology and applied improvisation to create playful, human-centred learning experiences that foster communication, emotional competence, confidence, empathy, and human connection.
