Research

My research foundations lie in core cognition: perception, attention, and memory. I combine this cognitive expertise with positive psychology, student experience, and improvisational theatre to investigate the mechanisms of improvisation (both theatrical and applied) and how they promote psychological safety, adaptability, empathy, and human flourishing.

I am currently developing a programme of research on applied improvisation that includes empirical work on student outcomes, alongside scoping work in healthcare education, whilst ensuring open, transparent research practices (e.g., open access, preregistration).
